About CKT

Made by CKT Ltd is a small app studio based in Shropshire, UK. We design, build and maintain apps — some for fun, some for business, and some simply because we spotted a problem that needed fixing (and apparently couldn't leave it alone).

Rather than joining the race to build yet another version of something that already has ten big players in it, we prefer to look for overlooked niches and create apps that are genuinely useful. Smaller ideas, perhaps, but ones we think deserve to exist.

The studio was founded by Katie Mayers and Chris Hill — who also happen to be a couple. Yes, we were warned. Quite a lot, actually. Starting a business together was apparently going to be a terrible idea, and there were plenty of people willing to explain why.

So far, we're still talking to each other.

Between us, we cover both the design and engineering sides of the studio. Katie focuses on how things look and feel, while Chris makes sure everything works properly under the hood. That means every app gets looked at from both directions before it goes live — because a beautiful app that doesn't work is really just a very attractive problem.

We're small by choice, which means we can keep things personal, move quickly and actually care about the details. No layers of management, no mysterious departments, and thankfully, no meetings about whether we need another meeting.

We'd rather build one app that fits its audience precisely than five that fit no one in particular.

Right now that means Bike AI, our first app under active development — a motorcycle ride companion that uses on-device AI to help riders plan routes, log their journeys, and make sense of the details that matter while out on the road. It is being built for riders rather than adapted from a generic ride tracker, and we'll share more as it nears release.
